Circles' Anthem

Mistakes.

The other day, I got a card in the mail, not addressed to me, or anyone in my house.  Same address, but an unfamiliar name.  We’ve recently moved, but it wasn’t to the previous owner, either.  I guess curiosity got the best of me, I figured it was just a little Christmas card, so I opened it.  Inside was not just a card, but one of those $100 pre-paid credit cards.  Shit.  I knew I had to send it back to the owners, there was a return address label on the front.  As I was writing a short note of explanation, saying I hadn’t been paying attention to the names on the front as I was opening mail, I scanned the note written in the card.  It looked like it was from one brother to another, and the author was explaining that someone had given him the gift card in church, saying God had wanted him to have it, and now he was, in turn, passing it along to someone whom he knew needed it more than he did.  I know curiosity is supposed to kill the cat, and there is that whole minor detail of federal offenses when it comes to mail, but I don’t regret what I did.  I’m glad I got to see a glimpse of the fact that people are still good, and that God is still working in His own ways to take care of His children.  It gave me hope.
